This well written article over at American Thinker sums up where we are in terms of the country’s Commander in Chief. From my perch, I think “clueless” is much too endearing a term. I have other, more realistic thoughts.

As a poster said over at Lucianne.com: “In case you missed it live here it is. Do not hurl things at your computer screen in disgust; you’ll only regret it later. The First Narcissist and Community Organizer-in-Chief demonstrates before the entire nation how he is in no way presidential and is totally clueless.”

Twelve soldiers were murdered in cold blood at Fort Hood, Texas. Thirty others were wounded. Our Commander in Chief calls a press conference and begins it with a long thanks to the Department of the Interior and Native Americans who just concluded a conference and then gives a good natured “shout out” to an attendee , all with a studied nonchalance, before he even mentions the outrage on our military base.

Lord Christopher Monckton, former adviser to Margaret Thatcher, spoke at Bethel University in St. Paul, MN last week on the UN Climate Change treaty scheduled to be signed in Copenhagen in December 2009. He was hosted by the Minnesota Free Market Institute.

Minnesota Majority posted the video of his speech, entitled “Is Obama Poised to Cede US Sovereignty?” He wouldn’t be the first (see here and here).

And, then there’s this from RedState.com. It’s interesting to me given the off the record comments by a Dem insider who can, like most of the rest of normal America, see that the Emperor -his highness, Obeyme, has not clothes.

The Democratic party has massive pent-up demand for good news on health care — i.e., they haven’t had any and Obama’s brightly colored abstract art painting of a health care speech has temporarily put the Democrats in a trance like state.

They will snap out of it, because the experienced veterans of health care warfare will help them.

One very experienced Democrat, a former Senate staffer who appears ofter on cable talk shows was very, very angry this morning. He believes Obama has completely destroyed the chance the nation had to get health care reform accomplished.

He simply stated that President Obama was not telling the truth on many key points in his speech yesterday.

Some of you might not be familiar with the excellent blog, Powerline. I strongly recommend it to you for daily updates on the American scene. John Hinderaker has posted a very insightful analysis of Obama’s speech on Healthcare today. The opening lines are:

From a policy standpoint, there was nothing new in President Obama’s speech to a joint session of Congress tonight. It can only be assessed, therefore, in political terms. I read the transcript rather than watching it, but the speech struck me as reasonably effective. I assume the delivery was standard Obama–smooth, generally flat, occasionally a bit whiny.One striking aspect of the speech was that Obama kept talking about the “plan” that he “announced” tonight–but there is no plan; not in writing, anyway. Not unless Obama meant Nancy Pelosi‘s House bill, but he didn’t seem to, since he made a point of saying that details remain to be filled in, referred to work still going on in committee, and said that “his plan” is open to alternatives to the public option. This vagueness gives him a sort of deniability: what he was describing was more his concept of the qualities health care legislation should have, rather than a specific bill. Whether that was politically smart remains to be seen. So far, vagueness hasn’t seemed to be the President’s friend on this issue.
